Pokemon GO Buddy Adventures, Continued: My Hard Work Paid Off
Yesterday, January 17th, I set a goal for myself to try and hit in Pokemon GO: get my highest "heart level" buddies all to the "best buddy" status. As you may have read in my latest blog, or seen in my latest YouTube video, 3 of the buddies I have been walking were really close: Virizion (First Raid 98 iv), Ferrothorn (Maxed, Lucky, 96 iv), and Glaceon (Maxed, 93 iv). These are not the choices most people would make, but, I am not most people. If you really paid attention to my video, I have been slowly working on 10 other buddies besides these three, hence why it has taken me a good while to get even one of them to a "best buddy."
My first best buddy Pokemon reached was Virizion and it did not happen until I was almost done with my afternoon walk in City Park because, that morning, I thought Glaceon was close enough to hit besties, but, I maxed it at the "20 hearts," besides it bringing me a gift/souvenir, so I knew my goal of making all 3 best buddies was not going to happen. The worst part was that, once I switched to Ferrothorn to try and kick it over to the "best buddy" stage, I realized I would not get the "distance" hearts due to how long it took for the game to catch up with Virizion. Disheartened, but not wanting to give up, I took my screenshots of Virizion wearing its "bestie badge," as seen on the right, and made Ferrothorn my buddy.

The issue with trying to make Ferrothorn go up a friendship level was that problem with not being able to acquire "20 hearts." Now, some people might say, "Just go walk some more and hit the 6 kms, at least," but, they may not have known that I had already walked over 13 miles for the day. Well, I almost gave up, but, tried my hardest to hit excited with Ferrothorn simply by doing all I could and it did go excited. I even walked up the street to the gyms by my house to attack it with Ferrothorn in my party, spin the gym as a "new visit," and got a heart for distance. I kept at it, and, after about three hours of being home, it went "best buddy." People have been walking different Pokemon for a variety of reasons and some even do it to see exactly where the Pokemon's earned ribbon will be placed. For Ferrothorn, she has a new hat.
My third "best buddy" Pokemon took a little more time this morning, January 18th, but, Glaceon also went to the final stage of friendship. It truly only needed a couple more hearts, which, in my opinion, is an option Niantic should have viewable on a Pokemon's "heart" level. Most people know that "Great Buddies" needs 70 hearts, "Ultra Buddies" needs 80 more, and "Best Buddies" needs a final 150 more. If trainers could see the total hearts earned, it would be easier in deciding which Pokemon buddy should be walked next, or in what order.
Having 3 best buddy Pokemon now, and 10 others in progress, I did decide to start walking 3 new ones. I am starting back to work this coming week so I will need more sleep and may only be able to get one Pokemon, instead of two, fully excited with their max hearts. I appreciate everyone who reads my blogs or watches my videos, thank you. They are my way of expressing myself and they help me get my ideas, feelings, concerns, and struggles out there in case someone else might just need to hear that they are not alone or that Pokemon GO truly does help with depression, social anxiety, etc. I know it sure has for me.
