Oh Niantic....We Love the Irony

After purchasing the tickets to Pokemon GO Fest Chicago, 2019, through a mutual "in-game" friend, I realize the next day that I had also one a chance to buy tickets.  The irony and coincidence was both a good, and bad, thing.  I was already attending the GO Fest but could possibly have other "friends" have a chance at going, as well. So, thus began the messaging of people who I thought might want to go that I knew were Great Friends, or higher.  There were several road blocks, though.  For one friend, I did not have all of his family members' accounts as "friends" and another had to check with his lady first.  By the time I got a clear answer from either of them, the tickets had officially sold out.  I felt blessed and sad because I was able to go but the others were not, due to poor timing, and the issue that my "winning email" went straight to spam, which I heard was an issue for others who had not realized they had won, until it was too late.

The random lottery system was not a bad choice, but, it left a lot of people out.  It also needs improving or reworking so that people who truly want to go know when the waves occur.  There also should be an "in-game" notification that is visible besides having to click on the "Event" icon under "Settings," like when you have friend interaction or if a pokemon is returned back from a gym.  Also, maybe have an actual "pull" system where more active players have a higher chance of getting chosen over ones who just started playing.  That opinion may get me in trouble, but, being a player who has played since the beginning, I was stressing that I was not going to go and saw "newer" players already being selected.  I felt it was unfair because the opportunity for veteran players was overlooked.  Niantic may also want to put "Level" into consideration as well as time spent daily while playing.  If there was a more structured method of drawing the winners, people would be less upset that they were not chosen, and possibly more understanding as to why they had not been selected.  There will always be sour people who feel they should get to go and get mad if they do not, but, fairness and actual effort needs to be considered way more when it comes to making judgement as to what an "active" player is.  All in all, I am excited and feel blessed to have the opportunity to attend Pokemon GO Fest, 2019, in Chicago!
